Melissa Marie Benoist is an American actress and singer who has built a notable career across television, film, and theatre. Raised primarily in the suburbs of Colorado, she developed a passion for performing arts at an early age, participating in local children's theatre productions and taking dance classes. She later pursued her passion academically, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Marymount Manhattan College.

Her early career included minor television appearances before she landed her breakout television role as Marley Rose on the Fox musical comedy-drama series Glee. Gaining wider industry recognition, she transitioned into film with a role in the critically acclaimed drama Whiplash. Her career reached new heights when she was cast in the iconic title role of Kara Danvers on the superhero series Supergirl, starring in the show across its multi-season run on CBS and The CW.

Beyond her television success, Benoist expanded her artistic footprint to the stage, making her Broadway debut starring in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. In addition to her acting projects, she established a production company, Three Things Productions, focused on developing dynamic, female-forward stories. She is also a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness and uses her platform to speak openly about important social causes.
