Emily Rebecca Kinney is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. Raised in Wayne, Nebraska, alongside her family, she developed an early passion for performance, storytelling, and music. After attending New York University for a semester, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2006. Following her graduation, she relocated to New York to pursue a professional career on stage, working in local coffee shops while auditioning for theatrical productions.

Kinney quickly established herself in the theatrical community, landing roles in regional productions and eventually making her Broadway debut in the musical adaptation of Spring Awakening as Anna. She followed this with a role in the play August: Osage County and made early television appearances in programs such as The Big C, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and The Good Wife. Her mainstream breakthrough came when she was cast as Beth Greene on the AMC horror-drama series The Walking Dead, a role that brought her international recognition and expanded her visibility across television.

Following her tenure on The Walking Dead, Kinney pursued diverse roles across television, appearing in shows like Masters of Sex, The Flash, Arrow, The Knick, and the ABC legal drama Conviction. Alongside her acting endeavours, she has maintained a vibrant career as a singer-songwriter, releasing independent music and studio albums—such as Expired Love, This Is War, Oh Jonathan, and The Supporting Character—that blend introspective lyrics with pop and acoustic instrumentation.
