Lauren Eve Mayberry is a Scottish musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist, percussionist, and co-writer of the synth-pop band CHVRCHES. Before achieving international success in music, she earned a law degree and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Strathclyde, subsequently working briefly in freelance journalism and production running. Early in her musical journey, she played drums and keyboards in local indie bands such as Boyfriend/Girlfriend and Blue Sky Archives.

In 2011, she co-founded CHVRCHES alongside Iain Cook and Martin Doherty in a basement studio in Glasgow. The band quickly rose to prominence with critically acclaimed studio albums like The Bones of What You Believe and Every Open Eye, blending electronic pop with striking vocal melodies. Alongside her work with the group, she has collaborated with various notable artists across the alternative and electronic music scenes.

Outside of her primary band, she is an active philanthropist and advocate, working with organizations such as Rape Crisis Glasgow and Amnesty International. Embracing a new chapter in her career, she ventured into solo material with the release of her debut single "Are You Awake?" in 2023, followed by her full-length solo album Vicious Creature.
